Sizes and ET-values

Still confused about the possibilities under a 5gt  :?

Stock our cars have a 5,5 wide wheel with ET value 36.

So if you want a wheel that's wider and lager, do you go with a low ET value?

asuming you want 15" wheels that are 8" wide, you'd need an ET value of around 0 in order not to touch the suspension?  Would the outside ring clear the fenders?

Then there's the tire issue, if you go with low small tires, would they help clear the outside, like on some cars you see around?

Anyone every went with wide wheels?  Any thoughts on the subject?  Thanks!

You can go up to 7-7.5" wide bfore changing the offset, your best sticking to 35mm offset mate as that will fit nicely under the arch's
Going any wider then you will have the wheel starting to stick out the arch due to the width of the wheel, there's not enough room in the wheel well to fit anything over 7.5-8" wheels without cutting the arch.

weird question maybe, would 2x(7x13") and 2x(8x13") all ET26 fit, with relatively small tires?

Due to the lower ET these might clear on the inside?

I've seen a nice set here for sale locally (bit German-ish; agreed)

ET 26 will stick the wheel further out oin the arch so it'll be clipping the outer arch, u'd be tempted to go as close to ET35 as you can

Well here is one site where is quite nicely explained everything about et, tires and wheels etc.

I use 15" wheels 6" or 6.5" et35 or 38 (forgot those sizes need to check again )
and tires 195/45/15 those fits very good. No need spacers at front or fixing. But its my opinion.  
Looks like little too low and close to rear arches with those 16" wheels..maybe one little jump and cracks rear arches :roll: ..well.

ok I got some good info on this car :



He used a set of stock renault wheels 5,5" ET36 and had them enlarged, only on the outside.  So the inside distance from mouting point to the suspention stays exactly the same!

I did the math and this is what came up :

front : 7" : 10,59cm inside (kept), so 7,19cm outside which now gives ET17
rear 8" : 10,59cm inside (kept), so 9,73 cm outside which now gives ET05 (4,3mm between middle of the wheel and the mouting plate)

Seems to work on his f1, so I'm still wondering what possibilties are out there.

Maybe we should do some tests on several wheel/tire sizes  :mrgreen:
