are they fitted between the turbo elbo and the turbo? and what do u do when u come to get ur M.O.T,, can u turn it off or do u have to take it out and replace it with the legal part??

The external wastegate , or more accuratly the screamer pipe isnt really audible at idle. Its only when on chat that it gets noisey.

I would assume your tester doesnt bother revving it and getting +ive boost pressure ..

No the external wastegate is fitted onto the manifold before the turbo but after the exhaust ports, it replaces the actuator on the turbo.

There's no need to remove it for MOT time, you don't turn them on and off they work just like actuator and vent exhaust gasses out once require boost pressure is reached. This is where you get the noise fom as its basically another exhaust pipe on the car.

and is it a bit like a dump vaulve.. dose do something but only on big spec engines.. otherwise its just another noise to make the car sound 'propper BO'

My mate has a screamer pipe on his evo 3, it literally just sounds like a roar as soon as it hits boost. Its kinda monotone tbh, but it is loud Kinda put me off wanting one so bad

im guessing so... inless it can be 'bolted on' with a bitta weld or summing, and dose this mean (not that i could afford it) that u wouldn't be able to have a 421 exhaust manifold?? or again would u just have to have a serious custom jobbi made up ??

No you don't as it replaces the actuator.

Its not a dump valve, its pretty much same as actuator as it controls the boost but instead of moving a penny flap in the turbo it vents the exhaust gasses out through a vacumn operated valve in the wastegate and the through a seperate exhaust.

It can be fitted to any engine, standard or big power doesn't matter it does same job on all engines.

its a better way controlling boost. plus in theory you dont get boost creep / overboost
