My luck must change soon ...
« on: 14:51, Thu 18 November 2010 »
t must be time for my luck to change.

Since owning it I have changed.

Air filter
Exhaust
Downpipe
TDC sensor
Renix ( ECU )
DriveShaft
Gearbox
Manifold
Turbo
Radiator ( x2 )
Intercooler
Degassings --> Matrix water pipe ( rubbing on alternator belt )
Water pump return to expansion chanber pipe ( rubbed on unguarded fan )
Water Pump
Swirl Pot
Window Latches
Clutch
Flywheel
Starter Motor
Horn
Engine Mounts
Gearbox steady
HT Leats
Dizzy
Front Bumper*
Rear Bumper*

It now has decided to sound like its firing on 3 cylinders on idle. I suspected an intake manifold leak. Can you get an intake manifold on its own ? Can you buggery. I have to take out the exhaust manifold as well. I have a slight saving grace as it appears a stud has gone walkabouts from one corner of the manifold. I am going to try and bolt it back together and hope the sucking stops.

After taking that lot apart I dropped a bolt in the cars bay somewhere. I have absolutely no idea where it has gone , and short of removing the engine I will never ever find it.

I walked round the back of the car and noted the smell of fuel. I now have a weeping reserve fuel tank.

The only saving grace is the fact that there is literally not a lot left that I haven't

( a ) bought new - or -
( b ) must be >< close to having a car that will work for a month at a time.

I must be due some luck with it.

* due to being gash

Andy, the exhaust & inlet manifold is just one gasket, I have a fairly new metal type Inlet / exhaust gasket if you need it in good condition obviously used but only done a max of 200-300 miles, yours if you want matey can post out tomorrow :) FOC - pm your address, I may even have some manifold studs and bolts spare aswell again will chuck in package if I can find some. :D

Andy sounds like me to be honest, can't think of one thing on my 5 I haven't replaced for new but I keep going through engine's

I have to write these things down just to check my sanity. My wife thinks I am mental. I think I am mental. Then I realise there are other mentalists out there.

You lot.

You have no idea how much encouragement you lot have on this 31 year old !

Its crazy , I owned one 8 years ago , then a 21 turbo and now again another 5.

When it knackers completely ( its only a little crack ! ) Ill look at full engine change.

Until - well lets just say the oil is stopping the underside of the car corroding ! :
