My 89 GT-T
« on: 22:08, Mon 12 April 2010 »
Everyone seems to have progress threads so i though i would knock one together and keep adding to it. I have posted some pics before but there all scattered about.

It started out like this back in Aug 2007. It cost me a tatty Corsa GSi and had about 84'000 miles on it. It had about 16 previous owners and came with a whole heap of problems, not loved at all but most importantly reasonably solid body wise.

I sorted the bodywork out with a new bumper and grill and replacement bonnet and passenger door. Once i had gone a bit mental with sorting out the dents and scabs etc there really was no other option but to send it to the painters. Also chucked on a set of original alloys.

Shortly after it had another bumper and intercooler from Bob @ CGB's Silver R5 and the rear end lowered to match the front. Currently looks like this and is showing 115'000miles.

I have broke a few things along the way, here are two of the best.

Current spec is as follows.

T25 .49 @ 16PSI manifold.
Scorpion S/S exhaust.
Carb adjusted to suit.
Cone filter.
Uprated clutch.
FMIC.
Cylinder head adapted to take M.....8 (silly text speak police   )rocker shaft bolts (more of a fix then anything else)
'Cup mod' for actuator pipework and oil breathers.
Wideband.
Aftermarket boost, oil temp, oil pressure gauges.
Braided brake pipes.

It's currently awaiting surgery, the crankcase is cracked on one of the waterways so i will get a picture of that as well.

Thank You.

If your going to break something, might as well do it properly.

It was a bit ropey, the rear quarter had been painted at some point and had a noticable 'greeny' tint to it compared to the rest of the car. Shame really.

I finally made a blanking plate for the re-circ DV today.

Unfortunately the material i was using was just short around the bolt holes, shouldn't make any difference.

Some sticky gasket 'stuff' just incase, the face of the plate is flat but you never know.

Done. Need some polishing in there!

Swopped the engine around now and bolted most things back together.

Had enough for one day, i'm going to have a GUNK session before i refit all the pipework and wiring because it's really grimy under my bonnet.

Bad news as well, the passenger bonnet hinge stud gave way, it was the last one aswell so the welder will have to come out before it's finished.  :(

Engine is in and running. Two jobs left to do, weld that hinge and crawl underneath and fix that exhaust bracket back onto the engine block near the starter motor.

I'm not doing this again, if ever it needs any more work like this then i shall just break it. What a waste of a weekend.  :(

All up and running.  8)

Took it for a quick blast down the dual carraigeway, everything seems fine. There's a massive air leak somewhere though, lots of turbo whistle and no ooomph i've probably not nipped the hoses up.

Nice to get home and find out it's held all it's coolant, that's something that hasn't happened for a long time.

Great success  :D

Do you feel it was worth it now after a drive down the dual carraigeways?  8)
