R5 GT Turbo Bleu Sport (Raider) from Holland
« on: 22:39, Sat 23 January 2010 »
Hello everybody!
I am from Holland and want to show you my 5GTT Raider, in Holland this version is called Bleu Sport.
I have had this car since 2001 and I love it more each year. The car is pretty standard except for the wheels and Magnex exhaust. I think that's why it has proven to be very reliable.
Hope you like it.

Remember the car is French, ergo steering wheel should be on the left side! lol

Thanks, I totally agree with the steering on the left is the right thing to do!
You use first and second gear much more than fourth and fifth, in a left hand drive car those gears are much more easy to select, because they are closer to you. Why does the McLaren F1 (UK engineered and built) have a seating position in the middle with the gear lever on the right?? And in most rally cars drivers sit on the left, even Colin McRae did so.... And another positive aspect: you have more room for your foot near your gas pedal, because the wheel is not coming in.

Haha! I think you pretty much explained everything right there, mate!
And I couldn't agree more!
No offense on the right hand drive 5s, though! They are as much Renaults as their left hand drive siblings

Is it your car? I have seen it before, looks very nice with the blue Clio alloys! I was thinking about it as well. But perhaps I want to go back to the original wheels, I still have them.
I forgot how it feels with the original wheels (it's been quite some years that I have these wheels), but I thought the car was a bit more alive (faster and less grip).
What do you think? And what tyres should be on them: 195/55 R13 or 195/45 R13 or...??
and what brand??

Here some other pictures of my car and some other cars during a rally of the Club Renault Sportives, it was in Holland/Belgium/Germany, october 2009:

and what it looked like after the rally, it was a nice day:

Nice collection of Renaults.

Correct tyre size for standard wheels is 195/55R13. It only seems to be UniRoyales that are readily available here in the UK. Maybe you might have more of a choice over there?

The semperit sport life is also available here in NL, and it's not that expensive, I believe 47 euro per tyre. Is it better than the uniroyal? But would it not be better to get a 195/45 tyre like the Continental sportcontact or dunlop sp9000? Would handling improve or not?
