DIY Spraying!

Hi ladz bought a back bumper (black) the other day but im being quoted
nearly £100 to spray it red!
Has anybody spray canned one before with decent results?  :lol:

I rattle canned my front bumper, came out ok.



It's usually large flat surfaces that are hard to do. Or impossible in my case.  :mrgreen:

Its worth getting some proper solvent to degrease the surface properly before painting. Gets rid of any oily finger residue etc.
Very simply:
Prep it with 240-400 paper,
give it a few thin coats of high-build primer.
Flat it back evenly with 6-800 wet & dry paper. Make sure its perfectly clean/dry and go on with the top coats.

Exactly as above really.

I used 2 large blocks to lift the bumper off the ground and also covered the ground beneath in water to stop any dust/debris flying up and sticking.

i have used aerosol cans to paint bumpers etc. in the past and the only tip i can really add is to make sure you put lots of light coats on rather than try to put the paint on too thick too avoid runs

hey bud yeh its all in the prep work,and off course a decent paint i personally get a spray match made from my local motor factors does the job really well

i get my paint from halfords
its pretty good and last long
i also get it for 50p down penkrige market lol but some paints are rare to find there
