The open filter in combination with high boost and a DV sounds great...

I have no idea if there is a big difference between a piston-DV or the one with a membrane... I know that the piston-DV definitely produces a marvelous sound in combination with an open airfilter.

But beware: make sure the airfilter is able to breathe in cool air! Otherwise you will have a nice sound, but loss of power.

Apparently different hose lengths, thickness and material can change the noise it makes as well. From quite a deep sound to something that sounds like a flock of pigeons under the bonnet.

Have a search for 'Dose pipe' i think the Americans call it?  :?

I believe this is what you are requiring , !

Its Obviously about AM spec air filters that echo the 'Compressor Surge' , but its also down to the pipes and a short piece of metal tubing , I only know this as I stand in ore of my mates FRST as it sounds like a chip munk going down the road

Any ways , watch this through and it should be what your after

Cheers matt, not a bad sound compared to the d/v!  :D
think a need a change
has this been known to cause any damage to the turbo? yeah a heard a few RST's they sound awesome!!
What pipes or 'metal tubing' am a needing? is it just the pipe for the AM filter to the turbo?
Bare with me as a aint got a clue

I used a 90 degree bend preff the smallest you can get a away with fitting and then used a small peace of tubing maybe perhaps ... 5 inches long bout 1'' 1/2 wide , then a cotton filter

Nope no damage can be caused in IMO ive seen 350 - 400 bhp cossies, FRST , Pulsurs and Evo's running with out a DV and they dont have issues ,

Personal choice in my Mind ! , I go for the Compressor surge noise ,

Thats wot a was thinkin, if is good enough for the WRC cars then its good enough for ma 5!!!

Cheers matt, al have a look 2moro at a filter and a 90 deg pipe! a guess its better with a 9o degree hose because it'l face towards the grill and away from the hot turbo?
A knw some people use the telephone bend, what is it you've got m8?

i used a t25 stage 3 360 thrust bearing , and a 90 degree bend  *bought a new SFS one *
and the metal pipe with a AM filter and mine sounded like that ill try post up a video soon ! , Give it a go , may / may not be as loud but will still sound lovely either way as D/V give me a headache lol

Well maybe b different on mine as av got a standard T2 lol
al take the airbox out over the wkend n give it a bash, cant b too hard
so going by this thread a would have to blank off hose to the dumpvalve? a havent got a blanking plug so is this all a have to do without taking it out completely?
