Pulsar wheel is HUGE mate, will it spool ok?
I'm having a similar wheel in my new turbo for the 19 turbo... My turbo is a journal bearing version of the 2871.

this is what we will find out matey , my turbo builder reckons 300-500rpm more lag at the most

well after a few delays we finally fitted my new turbo on friday, and my god what a difference its made, the car was quick before but now its in a total different league it actually took me by surprise on how quick it was eg spinning the wheels in 3rd in the dry . Only gained around 200rpm lag which i am impressed with seeing as iv gone from a t2 turbine in the .63 t2 housing up to a t28 turbine and shaft.
so its now all systems go for next months dyno day at wgt cant wait to see how it goes

these were taken after a bit of a cleaning session finished with poorboys blackhole glaze and dodo juice supernatural hybrid (not the best of pics)





finally had my car on the dyno, was tested on wgt hub dyno at the day i organised

the old lines you see are my old 178bhp set up, best thing is my fuelling was mega rich 10.8afr full boost so there is a few more ponies be had just by leaning carb out

the supernatural hybrid is brilliant and is much better than the ag hd wax that i used to use.

next on the list is group a exhaust valves, fit this big jim racing downpipe/elbow and get a full 2.5" system made up. obviously going to lean the fuelling out a bit which should see it run around 240bhp at same boost level (24psi)
EFI is also a very strong possibility

also going to be doing a bit of restoration on the bodywork new bonnet,drivers door and then tidy up any bits that need it

my big jim racing downpipe/elbow thats going to be fitted over winter with the new full 2.5" exhaust system and enlarged exhaust valves should help get them gasses out quicker and aid a tad with spool up.




efi is on the shelf but all is not lost as the car is 100% getting mappable ignition which will do away with the pretty dated and limited aei unit. been speaking to a fella who has done this conversion on his 5gtt and he reports a gain of 30bhp in the 2-3k range which for me would be brilliant as my turbo doesnt hit full boost until 4.2k.

where did you get the down pipe? and what ignition system where you looking at?

bloody hell its been a long time since i updated on here, just like to add that i got the full 2.5" bore longlife system fitted along with the bjr downpipe back in january, oh and i also have refitted oe headlights.

The car has then been sorn since feb due to finding alot of the dreaded tin worm underneath, work finally started on my car a couple of weeks ago, we have started on the supposed better side first.

anyway enough babble heres some pics

as you can see the supposed better side was not that good at all but all is being sorted

we have then got to do drivers side which is a massive job as virtually all floor pan that side has gone as well as sills, rear bumper mounts need doing also. had to get a new bonnet as mine was fecked and also new drivers door.

iv got a load of goodies to go on the car including braided brake hoses, polished cupro/nickel brake lines, ktr jr air filter,door cards are being flocked and a set of ds2000 brake pads all round.

Andy, I'm really pleased you stuck with her, she will be mint when you've finished.
I still get the urge to buy another, I just don't have the time or health these days due to my back being fooked to be lying under a car welding or fixing things
