right ive had a reanault 5 as my first car, it only lasted 3 weeks and ended up in the scrapheap in the sky! it was fun while it lasted, good old 1.1!!

so ive found a phase 1 gt turbo that belongs to my mates dad he has had it from new and done 95000 miles, it has sat in a garage for 10 years, the brakes are siezed ect, we got the engine running today but on just 3 cylinders and there was a knocking noise from the cam!!!???

i want to know cost and what could be wrong with it after sitting that long,
also would it be a chan or cambelt

thanks harry

Welcome dude.
The engine runs on a timing chain.
Change all the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm and see how it runs then.

ok, it had old oil(10 years) and was a bit over full, i have brought it for 500! it nuuds new brakelines all round, a throttle cable, ful service and a lot more!
i dont know if the headgasket is anygood as it had grey mayo on the cap after running?? will probably do the gasket, do the heads crack or go porus? or will it just need the skim??

thanks
