Help. Adjustable Timing Vernier Pulley
« on: 12:25, Fri 17 July 2009 »
Hi, I have in my engine a piper cams 285º with the Vernier Pulley of origin. The car  only make me 6500rpm, when arriving 6500rpm the engine is like that it arrests. In a few days y go to put a Adjustable Timing Vernier Pulley of k-tec. I do not know what me make to the engine the adjustment.
For who he perceives of the subject, if I to delay it cam timing what make to the engine in performance level. e if I to give advance I cam timing what make.
what I look for my motor one was rotation above of 7000rpm.
Tanks for the help.

Does it go flat in all gears or just higher, what boost do you run ?
Sounds like a rev limiter ? or maybe running out of fuel... I don't think the cam will stop it revving, it will rev to whatever but may bend pushrods, not the symtoms you describe as far as I know..
What fuel pump do you run, what AEI (ecu) can you tell us a bit about the power & spec etc.. you can never have to much info :)

Can't really tell anything from the video as it looked ok to me, nearly went to 7k a couple of times.. Richie could be onto something though, check the acc cable isn't stretched or that the sheath hasn't slipped from the bracket a little, this will mean you won't hit full throttle quickly, i had this happen to a mates car, the sheath slipped through the bracket a little & so it seemed to take a while to get full boost, I loosened the 10mm nut & pulled the cable a little & it went like a rocket... Failing that i'm not sure, are the clio clocks different to the gtt ones, maybe it looks like you aren't hitting the revs but are due to different gearing in the clocks/gearbox drive ?????
Or it could be lack of fuel up around 5500-6k, 130 main will be a little small for 1.6 bar  ;) have you changed the air corrector also ??
Do you have wideband & are you taking boost at manifold or carb top ?

Hi, y have a air fuel ratio gauge, and the mistur are rich.
The cable acelerator open all.
I take the boost from carb top.
I have the air corrector std(maibe is because of this,y gona try put one 0.9 to test)

And about  the Adjustable Timing Vernier Pulley
if I to delay it cam timing what make to the engine in performance level. e if I to give advance I cam timing what make.
what y cane get whit , advance or delay.
Tanks.

I reckon your problem could be fueling, the 130 main jet won't fuel enough for the boost on it's own, try the 0.9 a/c to see if it changes things.. If you don't plan on drilling the 2nd stage you will prob need to use a 140 main & .9 air corrector from my experiments with cams & larger turbo's....

Whats your fueling doing exactly? whats your afrs at this such rpm?

Advance a cam drops peak power..retard will raise it...You need to dial the cam to the suited lca to what grind the cam is ..But if its pulling in 2nd and not 3rd then it aint this. cam will effect every gear..
