cd player help

Does anybody know where dial illumination connects to on the renault 5 wiring harness?
NOTE: the cd player is an old  goodmans so the wiring comes out the back of cd player with no plugs
this is what i have to straight connect up:

Harness wiring diagram

red (live)
yellow (memory)
blue (aerial)
orange(dial illumination)?
black (earth/common return)

cd player wiring diagram

red (IGN live)
black(earth/common return)
orange(memory)
orange/white(aerial)

any idea's where this dial immumination would connect up to?
very confusing LOL

ps. i am not concerned about the speaker side yet and know where they connect up to

it probably has not got one, could just light up all the time.

ye could be that it lights up using the ignition live & earth. only trouble is im left with the dial illumination and aerial wire and not sure where to put the aerial wire lol

Usually the dial illumination is so the stereo facia lights dim when the car lights are turned on, so there not a distraction.

If you want to connect it you could use the 12v feed that illuminates the heater controls, thats going to be one of the closest to the stereo.

Aerial power is only for electrical aerials.

just dug out the haynes manual for it and suprisingly it doesnt show original diagrams for the radio :S i have the renault 5 harness attached to the original wiring and have crimped the harness wiring to the cd player wiring haha so basically i have a 3 way process of getting it to work!

Mine was so badly 'twist'n'taped' over the years i just chopped the whole lot out and started again.

When i first used the original battered wiring i would go over a bump and, depending how severe a bump it was a different speaker would turn off. It wasn't long before i was permanently left with 3 speakers.......then 2.......etc.

haha sounds a nightmare!
I never want to see the back of my cd player again unless i disconnect my rca leads haha it has the original wiring which ive extended because the plonker i bought it off cut them back so short it took me hours to get a soldering iron in there haha then ive got a harness to another harness so that i can disconnect either the speakers or the lives/earths. Its a tragedy! haha
