« on: 09:26, Thu 11 June 2009 »
hi all

how can i tell if a carb has had any work done to it just by looking at it(i.e,group a,bigger jets etc etc).
iv got loads in the garage but not sure which 1 would be best to put on the car.

thanks

Changes are usually larger jets, you can measure these with precision drill bits.

Wider venturis can be noticed by looking at the numbers stamped on the edge of the venturi. Standard will have about 1-2mm of metal between the stamped numbers and the edge of the venturi and on the bored out ones the stamped numbers will be near enough on the edge to the venturi.

There was some photos on here to better explain but i've no idea where they are.

Sorry i forgot to add, you see the numbers whilst looking into the carb from the top. I think it's got '25' stamped onto it. I'm sure you'll figure out what i'm trying to explain when you look at it. LOL.
