We were wondering, if the actuator wasnt weak, but the bracket was moving about, as it was only on one bolt.
Whats with the yellow water pump :D
I spent hours getting all yellow off that car, it was everywhere :D

I had abit of yellow paint left so thought sod it, brighten the engine bay up abit. I still got few little bits i want to tidy up but so far thats how its staying now.

I went for yellow as it was the only boost pipes i could get, also goes with the radioactive fuel filler cap!    :D

Ok guys, its been a while. Ive been a bit lazy on posting and helping out on the site. Thought id give you all an update on the lil beasty

The girlfriend hates me car with a vengance! She has no real reason other than its too fast and ugly.
She is wrong!
But, shes a goodun so i got a bonnet that wasn't rusty, so she can stand it a bit more, nice aint I ;)
Also got a campus grill (i prefer it to the turbo anyway, looks smoother and more discreet).

Before

After

Ive still got some rat in me though so i added this as my personal touch.

I did have another engine problem a while back and its not been on the road since. (fixed but not had the funds to get it OTR)

My headgasket had gone. When i had the last problem of the piston falling apart i stupidly re-used the HG as we only did a compression test on it. That was the root of my problems i think. From then on it was using coolant every now and then.
It got really bad and i had to limp it home 70 miles from uni.
That didn't go to plan...
It popped on the M1 and i was left waiting for recovery on the side of the motorway where another motorway had just joined. (yes a very dangerous spot :D)

Found this when i took it all apart.

Very conveniently for me, SCRATCHER was replacing his pistons at the time and i bought his used pistons, liners and rings off him.

Engine all back together. I bought another carb, took it all apart, cleaned it all up, put it on.
Car would start but die straight after.
Turned out i had some goo in the main jet.
All cleaned up AGAIN, she purrs like a kitten now :D and not a drop of smoke from the exhaust.

More to come...

Did you find out what cause the piston to do this??

I am not to sure what mine is although I have no oil and coolant mix, I did have some low oil pressure and was running very low on fuel in the tank at the time and was co,ming around a long bend hard in the 5

The scoring on the piston will be down to running lean causing the piston to get hot and expand, not lack of lubrication.
