oil smell in cabine?
« on: 15:22, Wed 18 March 2009 »
has anyone met this problem, smell obviously comes trough the ventilation from engine...mechanic told me that headgasket is "drooling" a little bit but it can still run....

so can this smelling issue be solved other than rebuilding headgasket?

have you got an in-car boost adjuster as mine used make the uinside of the car smell weird when boost (i have removed it now and fitted a under bonnet bleed valve which in my eyes is a little bit safer as you have to stop the car and get out to up the boost, so you dont get the urge to whack it up whilst racing (which can result in headgasket failure lol)

DONT KNOCK IT TIL YOU TRIED IT!!!!!!!!!

What oil breather system are you running mate?
i run mine venting through the perc-fan hole and sometimes you get a wiff of oil coming in.

dunno exactly, stock variant I guess...engine is a combination of ph1 i ph2 :) turbo cooling system is like on ph2, but some details give away ph1. ignition module position etc...

Hmm, I'd have a look over all the other areas first, like any split breathers, if the rocker cover nuts are leaking, or the gasket. And oil cooler lines and filter and so on.

I'm not much help haha :D

I love the hot oil smell these cars give off. :D

If the car isn't smoking and your not loosing oil i wouldn't worry to much.
