What's this??

In a bid to identify various unknown parts under the bonnet this item is causing me some head scratching, whatever it is it looks like it is probably past its best but not knowing what it is i can't replace it!

Anyone have any ideas?

I Dont Know If Im Rite In Saying This But To Me It Looks Like The Sencor That Sits In Top Of The Heat Shield That Goes Around The Turbo But By Te Looks Of Things You Dont Have a HeatShield Over Your Turbo So That Might Be The Confusion

Ah ok - i did have a heat shield until 5 mins before the photo, i removed it as only held on with one bolt and rattling around and moving about all over the shop!!

So would the sensor attach to the heat shield and what would it monitor??

Anti-perc fan sensor. The wiring it is attached to isn't the wiring that came with the car though.

Ok Ash Says Its Anti Percs Fan Sencor I Wasnt 100% On It
But Isnt It In The Wrong Place For The Percs Fan Ash
I Dont Have One Of These Myself

Thanks for the information guys, be good to know where it is supposed to be if currently in the wrong place. As far as i know the anti perc fan isnt currently working so guessing this maybe why? Am i right in saying the anti perc fan should cut in when you switch the engine off to cool fuel in the carb? From memory there is no sound of a fan running after the engine is switched.

Yea Thats Rite Sy It Should Cut In When The Engine Is Turned Off Do You Have The Percs Fan In Place

hi m8y the sensor is supposed to sit in a grommet that is in the turbo heatsheild (obviously if you have a heatsheild lol) and if you want to you could always remove the anti perc fan (as they are known to catch fire  :wink: )

it is a thermo switch for the anti perc fan circuit, there should also be one in the inlet manifold jus under the carb base on the n/s. to the best of my knowledge the perc fan should run at any time the switches tell it to. engine running or not, its there to stop fuel evaporating when it gets hot. if the rest of the loom is in a similar state it maybe an idea to give it a lil love, they can an do catch fire due to shit electrics

Put a fuse inline and then it wont catch fire

fuse only protects the perc fan motor, not the rest of it including the 2 relays which are prob dangeling down front of block filling up with water an jus waiting to short themselves. ended up as the cause of my fire, i did have the fuse in, but that doesnt help 20year old neglected, bodged by people that dont know what they are doing french electrics
