private regs
« on: 20:14, Thu 15 January 2009 »
HI IM thinking of buying a private reg for my r5 which is an 89 g reg. the reg im looking at is R5GTY my reg at the mo is G5NOS which im going to sell. however dvla state that u cannot make a car look newer than it is  by using a private reg. so u couldnt put an r plate on a g reg but i saw a car which had a similar reg to r5gty. has anyone any idea if i can use that reg

rule is you cant make a car newer than it is , so you would have to find and old 'Y' reg and not an R reg , best thing to do is go on a number plate finder type in what your looking for , problem is from october 08 number plate laws changed the spacings have to be exact , 3 points and a fine for ilegal spaced digits now  :x sucks . not that i have a personal plate ,

the G7T bit wouldn't work with the plate layout mate. It needs to be
Letter, Numers (3max I think), then 3 Letters

i have seen the reg G7T RNO for sale. assignment fees are 80 as i have payed these a few times now swapping regs lol. i know dvla say the space  on the reg has to be after the last number on the first part of the reg so G7 TRNO but i am going to space it G7T RNO and risk it i have 2 other regs on my cars spaced incorrectly and havnt been pulled once in 3 years so just going for it. u just play dumb when pulled  :wink:

G7T will not work matey needs to be in the following format must be no newer thean the reg on the car for example my car is a 1990 G plate so I can only have plates of this year or older

G123 wdp is fine so G48 WDP and so is C12 GTT but you can not have C1J GTT and defo not G7T RNO

Yes, eg A111 ABC, A1 ABC, A11 ABC. Not A1B CDE.

How about F8GTT  :shock:  :lol: For the more limp wristed R5 driver.  :lol:
