he drives a renault 9 in silver occasionly goes to southend sea front and his wastegate chatter sounds like a a squirrel getting roggerd , i asked him ages ago how to get mine like his and it doesnt do it to any level his does , any suggestions on what i can do next to get it chatter its bollocks of ?

am already ahead of you , some said the bigger turbo , so i bought a stage 3 , some one said the actuator , so am considering the t3 one , i have a cotten air filter already and no dump valve maybe am being petty wanting it louder than it already is

His name is Mark. I know him and his mate who used to have a 21 turbo...Both top blokes.

That car used to a Renault 9 automatic 1.4 and it was converted from all the bits from his old renault 11 turbo !! Proper old skool.. Goes like stink as well !!

my uncle used to have a 21 but prefer the looks of the 11 fo sure. But then i'd rather have my 5  :wink:

Theres used to be an Escort Cab that chattered like mad. The guy had a massive filter on a T3. Would having a larger filter help it echo more making it sound louder or something along those lines?

It's not wastegate chatter, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the wastegate.  The noise comes from the opposite side of the turbo for starters!

All it is is the sound of the un-used charge being "chopped up" as it comes back through the compressor.  Different boost levels, turbo sizes, air filters, air filter pipe runs all play a part in the sound you get.  Generally a big turbo with big boost sounds more high pitched.

I've heard it mentioned as 'wastegate chatter' and 'listen to the sound of that wastegate'  :shock:

As already said, it's got nothing to do with it.  :roll:
