head gasket

i need to ghange my gasket  never done one before but im confident that i can do it. just wondering if theres any tips i need to no.

Don't pull the head straight up just incase you lift the liners with it.

Tap the head at each corner with the bolts out to loosen the seal it will pivot on the locating dowel.

Goodluck with the h/g any problems just post up here. Do you know what caused the h/g to fail in the 1st place?i

underfueling im sure but getting wideband soon so i no for sure.
it happend in first gear dident overheat or anything it happend out side my house. :roll:

When you get the head of take some pics of the head and the gasket and see if you can see the fault and post them up on this thread matey.

Wideband is a very good thing to get with an R5 especially if you have the boost turned up.

right i feel stupid head gasket not gone :oops:
pushrod was bent, but i put a uprated head gasket and bolts on and was successful worked first time
but now my car wont idle i have to put my foot to the deck for ages to start it then when it starts it sounds like a missfire then stops goes fine at about 2k revs  then when i try to idle it it just cuts out.
any ideas ino it sounds like air leak but i checked everything i can think of.
d/v has been taken off. :cry:

Have you set the tappets?
Are there anymore bent rods.
Did you get all the water out of the piston bores.
did you refit the gasket properly.
Ht leads on in the right order.
Plugs clean.

done all above hope i fitted gasket properly folowed the guide.
the car will run fine above 1500rpm
cleaned idle jet aswell :roll:

Have you checked the breather circuit got all pipes on correct and the restrictors in place?
