330 bhp r5

hi i was just reading on rtoc they have had a rolling road day and an r5 gt turned out 330bhp thats mental. what kind of mods must that have? its hard enough getting 230bhp lol

It puts out 190bhp, then a BIG shot of NOS gets it to 330bhp... I believe Ian Nixon may have tuned it (used to own Europarts)

ah i see thats not that much then. whats the most powerful r5 about without nos?

With the 1.4 C1J, it has to be Stuart Clarkes, uknown power but it traps at 120mph+ at pod & runs 11's all day, best is 11.2 i think.

Without C1J (clio 172 turbo with 1.8 crank, massive spec) ...Scoff, runs low 11's & i reckon maybe 10's next year on the right day.. traps around 125mph i think & 11.1 is lowest i think..

IIRC stu's is believed to be 340+ but has never been dyno'd as it went off the last rollers at 340bhp

Yeah, it popped the gasket last time at pod, was trying it with a shot of NOS as well but wasn't hitting any better times....

It gets trailored to & from events..... so not a road car..... TBH, my old car when i had it was one of the highest BHP road cars IN USE daily AFIAK ( running 24psi manifold i reckon it was 220/230 bhp), there are others that are running over 200 on the road but not many, alot of people 'think' they have alot of power & don't... the lack of carb emptying tells me this.. But i was constantly monitoring the gauges so not really an ideal road car that you can jump in & drive hard, it was tuned to within an inch of breaking, lol....

James car (was), Marky Bs car, TNE Ghostrider is supposed to be pretty nippy..... are a few off the top of my head over 200 on the road... there are a few more on RTOC as well.
