« on: 18:16, Fri 07 November 2008 »
So now im wondering which is fastest -

Renault 5 GT Turbo
Peugeot 205 GTi
Fiat Punto GT
Fiat Uno Turbo

I know most people will say R5 because this is an R5 forum, but if you where honest could you tell me which is fastest?

Thanks

Define fastest.... fastest standard 0-60, standard 0-100, fastest modified, fastest on the drag strip, fastest on a track........

Having owned both a R5 and 205 (1.6+1.9's), in standard form the 205 will outrun a R5 on the twistys but has no chance in a drag or 0-60.

Can't comment on the others.

Good question,

I have owned two standard mk2 Uno Turbos and i now have a standard Renault 5 GT so i can hopefully clear this one up.

Please don't ban me from the website for saying this but my Uno Turbos were definitely quicker than the R5.  I daresay its slightly subjective and people could argue the case but i'm just throwing my opinion out there.

If i remember correctly on paper the R5 quotes a slightly quicker 0-60 time but i'm not convinced that is the case.

Cue the abuse...

I would say for an overall driving around in all situations the Pug 205 GTi 1.9 wins hands down!
to Big to Big, will find another soon!!!

I've always found the 1.6 to be more fun, the rev happy engine and that gearbox was great fun down the lanes, never had a chance to fit a 1.6 gearbox on a 1.9 would of been interesting i reckon.

ive owend a punto GT & there safe to run 18psi standard no probs there a bullet proof engine ther not as quik as a 5 on pick up but mid range is very good & top end is 138mph before it hits the limiter. There just a pain to work on engine out job for most things definatly for the turdo & sensers are proan for going.

its got to be the 5 all the way for me tho matey. alot more fun. :D

Which is fastest...... How long is a bit of string??

Difficult to compare now a days as all the cars are getting on & some may be looked after & some may be nails therefore giving you a false impression??

My Feelings on the subject are as follows:

Renault 5 GT Turbo - Class!
Peugeot 205 GTi - 1.9 is great round the bends but just feels flat to me without the turbo rush.
Fiat Punto GT - My mate had one of these with a SEBchip, Uprated Intercooler & Exhaust & i handed his arse to him EVERY TIME we raced each other at Santa Pod. Have a look here:

Fiat Uno Turbo - This same mate of mine had one of these when we were lads & i had my 1st GTT & again i would kick his arse from a standstill but then he would catch & pass me by about 80mph.

I had a 1.9 gti and then went on to a 5gt turbo..i thought the 205 had better handling but wasnt as quick as the 5...my 5 standard would spank my mates punto gt all day long, and as for the uno well i was going to buy one years ago and my other half said there was no way she would get in a car that looked like a brick...so i just kept the 5 :D
