« on: 17:45, Tue 12 August 2008 »
right my car mashed 2 starters and a fly wheel. put new fly wheel in and bran new starter but go to start it and it sounds like its going to mash it again. so took the starter off again and had a look. right where the bolts go in, the holes go wide in the middle between the box and the starter is there susposed to b metal bushes/collars in there filling the gap as i think the starter might b moving
any help would great as this is really doing my nut :?

More than likely they will both fit as they are different lengths dependant how far you need to get the starter off the flywheel. From looking @ my car tonight (as i have just removed my engine) my bush is located as your looking down on it from the passenger side on the top right matey. This will push the teeth away from the flywheel a little (and hopefully not eat it up anymore)

Is your starter a standard Valeo as I have a Bosch and it just doesn't work as it should - it makes a horrible noise but it's fitted correctly. I've changed it twice too and it doesn'ty make any difference. If it's not may be best to get a standard one and try that - there's some on eBay at the mo.
