My MOT

Took my car in yesterday, was worried as it has been sitting in a garage for the past 6 years!

Asked them to phone me if they needed to any repairs, didnt get nothing all day. (At work all day, not much time to call them)

The girlfriends dad popped in there around 4pm yesterday and basically;

- Rear lights failed as they dont have any reflectors.

- Idles too high

- Too low at the back, when they did the brakes test the rear tyres hit the body.


So, I went down there after work, bearing in mind its 10 miles away.

Changed the rear lights to the standard ones and hopefully they are re-testing today.

When it passes, its on the condition that I make the back higher, in all fairness I was going to do that anyway.

But, for a car sitting in a garage for the past 6 years and spending about £100 on before hand, it didnt do too badly!

Hmm My MOT list was far more expensive... ended up costing somewhere around 400£ in parts only... grrr

I wish Id get a list that short next time.

I have to do mine in febuary and the owner before me got a relative to do it i think so it is probably dodgy as.

Luckily i have a few mates that are mechanics so hopefully should be able to get it into shape soon.

I am pleased, I was like 'WHAT?! No serious problems!?' Thought they had made a mistake.

They said they 'fixed' the idle, but haven't.

Anyone got a guide to do this? Like, where the idle screw is located?
