Might be a bit OTT for road use i think. 10w40 will protect well enough between 90-120c, theres no reason why the oil would get any hotter then that unless you do a lot of trackdays.

I use 20/50 but my car has a hard life :)

10/40 is plenty good enough for a normal road car :)

i agree with that i use mobil 1 motorsport 15w50 and it costs £50 every 2000 miles for oil change but its good oil and my car demands the best

I also agree with 15w50 as these have a chain driven engine and a slightly thicker grade oil is better for them. Silkolene or Mobil 1 are good oils.

I didn't mean you should fill up with some supermarket 'own brand' oil that costs about £10, you can still get branded quality oil at that rating. As i've already said that protects at 90-120c and considering my car never goes anywhere near 120c i don't see any benefit from using oil with a higher rating, but that suits me for what i use the car for. Obviously if you do a lot of track days or give the car a fair bit of stick then go for something that will protect at above 120c.

ive used both granville silver 10/40w and fuch semi 10/40w for road use with great results. i dont seem to lose a drop of oil. i also use molyslip along with this [but thats my pref ^^] its defently not required

[GSF have a special deal going with fuch oils...good value atm]
