Whats everyones recomendations for an engine spec for a reliable 150-160 BHP that'll spool nice and early and is ideal for back roads?

The spec above is more than capable for 160bhp.  Its good to see you looking for a sensible figure thats going to stay reliable and still a good fast toy.  The standard turbo (T2) will be ok for 16psi..  that will get you to 150- 160bhp with the fastest spool up.  Anymore than that psi and you'll want to look at a T2/T25 or full T25..but u'll get a bit more lag.. and get you to around 180bhp or more depending how far u wind the boost.
 Any pics of the car?

tomcat turbo's are t25's mate,16psi would be a sensible limit on them,it wont just bolt straight on though.

cool i have a couple t25's then (standard fit on my s13)

Whats required to get a t25 on the 5 then ?

Also i now realise they use carbs is there and ecu on the engine if so what does it require to be able to run at above powers etc

Sorry to sound like a noob guys but my mates dumped me in at the deep end and im trying to surface asap to get this car roaded !

The 'body' of the turbo needs to be rotated so the oil feed is on top, mine was facing towards the passenger inner arch.

Will probably need adaptors for the oil feed and oil return.

Thats for the T25 that comes off a Rover, not sure if the Nissan ones are the same.

All you need to do is play with the carb jets, have a look in the DIY section theres a detailed post about it.  8)
