How the hell do you manage to keep it that clean? I have just spotted the turbo, even the exhaust housing and manifold is bright silver, is it painted? If so what with?

I'm suprised you haven't gone for a stainless steel heatsheild.

Never seen such a good looking engine bay.  8)

It looks good because the boost pipes are red and the coolant hoses are original black when they are all the same colour i think it can be too much imo. Very good i shall now steal this idea for my own car!

I agree, it's not just a sea of red silicon. It looks a look more detailed.

Hey Ash,   best way to keep it clean is hire someone to do it for you!   :D   with the turbo...  the part that you can see thats not under the heatshield is properly polished metal (not painted)  I zoomed in a bit to show u..

I tried polishing up the part of the housing under the heatshield but its not the same metal finish and like a rough surface.  So I just thought I'd use some extreme high temp alloy paint, and its hung on! I thought it would flake off soon as the turbo got some action..  it has stayed bright silver...  so happy with that.  I dont like using paint tho, the gearbox is properly polished up also.   But where the manifold connects to the turbo that has high temp silver on it as well.. as I couldnt get to that any other way.

 Hope this helps.. :)

haha..  I have tried to keep it as tasteful as poss..  I agree about the hose thing.  You see a lot of bays packed full of colours, but they lose the detail.  I dont even think its looks as good yet as its going to, when the front alloy int.cooler is back and the silver mesh induction kit...  that will really set it off.  I am tinkering with the idea of a genuine carbon fibre turbo heat shield and carbon perc hose and scuttles.. but other things to do 1st (just getting some more brake bits chromed up then get them fitted)  Just ordered some carbon fibre for other parts  8)

I have ordered some more bits that should be here in a few days.. that will prob be the majority of the engine done then....(but I always say that!   )  happy days

Interesting, my engine is reasonably clean but i find it is really let down by the brown manifold (my exhaust housing is hidden under a stainless steel heatshield so thats not really an issue).

When the head was off i did wire brush the exhaust manifold the best i could and painted with silver hammerite but like you say it just flaked off.
