How much power do you wan't?

If you don't want to change turbo that just strap and flow you standard IC, put another jets in the carb (130 main and 90 air corrector - do not enlarge your venturi) and raise boost to 15-16 psi. Also, try to find separate oil cooler to improve cooling a bit.

If you have plans to change turbo for bigger one there are few more bits to change if you want good power gains.

How do you flow your intercooler?

When you take out your intercooler you will see thermostat in one of the holes . You need to take off that thermometer and take off flap that is opening/closing intercooler fin area. That flap has purpose to close IC until temp. is enough high, so while closed car doesn't have IC at all. It is made of plastic so be gentle if you have plans to put it back.

i have group a carb do i still need 2 do the jets. i have big front intercooler and oil cooler. at low revs its a bit hesident wot mite that b.thanks.

Firstly... What boost are you running?

Group "A" car has 140 or even 150 main jet and 90 air corrector. Main jet is in any case too large :?

Venturi is also enlarged to 26.5 or even 27.

If you are running anything less than 16 psi (especially on standard T2) lazy start is due to too large intercooler and wrong jetting :cry:

Hesitation may be carb freeze if it's started to do it when it's really cold.
Prob more down to poor carb jetting though & over fueling.
Oh & if you want serious power then you will find you need an uprated clutch sooner or later (prob sooner )
You don't really need a seperate oil cooler either unless you are revving the nuts off the car for a long period ie. track days.

i am runin 15 psi at mo but on t2 turbo. intercooler is a bit big. if i rejet the carb will it b ok or do i need 2 put small intercooler on. just hesitent at low revs. thanks :twisted:

Try just re-jetting your carb. Leave big intercooler (how big is it?) and your car will be just more laggy. If the car is "dead" under 3000-3500rpm than IC also should be smaller :wink:

thanks i will try doing the jets my intercooler is 2 big its 3ft long by 1ft deep wot intercooler wud u put on. cheers

Standard boost is around 0.65 bar (12 psi) so if you increased boost to 15-16 psi fit  IC about 4500ccm capacity.
