Best way to store a car...
« on: 14:06, Thu 27 September 2007 »
...for a few years.
My plans have failed and I have no other option, than to postpone everything related to my dear 5. :?

Since I won't sell it, I will store it.
In our forest, I'll build a shed and park it there for at least 3 years.

Here's a 3d model I made for better image...

Car will stand on those lifted planks, so the moist from the ground won't harm it too much.
I'll also nail some PVC on the inner side of the walls to keep most of the water away. And dead bodies on the outer. Safety precautions

Any suggestions ?

Edit:
shed will also have lockable doors. How about that !
...but I, beeing poor, have only my dreams...

Don't get so upset.... :D I, for instance, just noticed the thread...

What I would do in your case: take the wheels off the car, put a lot of grease around the wheel bearings (front and back), grease the driveshaft gaiters from the outside to keep the rubber nice and flexible for temperature variations, put PVC on the ground under the car and some cardboard on top of the PVC (because PVC itself will not prevent moisture, just water, because of condensation... ) and some sort of cotton cloth ontop of the car to completely cover the car, which will protect it from cats, birds, insects etc...

Good luck!

I asked the very same question a few months ago and i was advised to put some of the silicone beads that you get in new trainers ect to absorb the miosture inside the car

All i can say is your clearly have to much time on your hands mate you should build yourself a model railway  :D

Why store it its a car its ment to be used but if you insist have the car wraped in the selafan car companies use when cars are new and stick her in a cosy warm shed.

I don't have as much time as you think. :D
And I can't get the parts I need. Even if I could get them somehow, it'd be too late now, because since this Monday I'm studying, working and training, which takes pretty much all day.
In those few hours remaining I'm doing work for school. :?

Only day I have for other things is Sunday.
The day I'm building the shed. 8) :D
