350bhp R5 ?

Hi all how much work would be involved in getting a R5 GTT up to 350 BHP

Is it possible if so how hard ?

Everything is possible, but you will be spending over 10k to get it, core engine built by a specialist, prob NOS, & it prob won't last long before a rebuild, the only point of having that power would be 1/4 mile drag racing.
There is a guy on RTOC who has the club record 11.4 secs i think & he must be around 300bhp.
Not practical on a road car at all, i have just over 200bhp & thats fast enough set the goal a bit lower & realistic, go for 200bhp 1st then move on to more if you want, but it won't be very usable on the road if you go over 250bhp IMO.

Crikey!! yeh i wasnt thinking for myself that would be far to much for me!! lol have enough problems with her as it is  :lol: its just someone on another site was claiming to have an r5gtt which is 350bhp just wondered how much work he must have done to it,  :roll: cheers for your reply tho.

I smell bullsh1t LOL, anyone that claims to have a 350 bhp GTT i'd call a liar unless they have alot of proof to back it up:)

You could get it for alot less, big turbo & a big shot of nos as well fed in progressivly maybe but i doubt it's drivable on the road or relaible.

its a good opinion lol the same as mine.

well he claims he is out "cruising" in it every night racing people, he was bragging about "doing" a pulsar gtir thought i would come ask you lot if it was possible to get the horses that high, thing is nobody has seen pictures or anything  :roll:

It could well be over 200bhp, my car easily does Scooby's, fiat coupe turbo's etc. not come up against a pulsar yet though so can't comment

At the moment I'm having dicussion on another forum (renault club croatia) about R5GTT from Italy owned by some guy named Gianni Santi. There was track day in Croatia and some forum member heard that he is talking about five and that it has 300 bhp and over 440 with NOS. All forum members backed him up and I was only one that wasn't convinced in that and they all think im just bull..iting on guy car. OK, car is fast 12.2 on qm and striped to the bone but 440 bhp makes me  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

Yes mate, I watched that movie before but nowhere exactly you can read that figure is 300 bhp (this already mentioned Goran on that Croatian board). Also, 1.7 bar of boost is way to low for 300 bhp on the setup he is running.

GTTBoy, you are running on 1.5 bar for little over 200 bhp and you definatelly have IMHO better setup and cooling than he has.

His car is pulling like crazy but I'm convinced that you don't need 440 bhp on GTT to achieve 12.2 on QM.

I he has some crazy big turbo & lairy cam that revs past 7k maybe he does have 300bhp, who knows, like you say 250bhp will see low 12's all day with the right set up/driver (i'm convinced my car has a low 13 in it, it's just the driver  :lol:  )

Steve, I'm sure you will run around 13.00 even less with your setup. You have great cooling, high quality boost and exhaust flow and lots of love for GTT

Is this chap running a 5 engine.

My mates running a 1.8 16v turbo conversion in his 5 and is only on 280 on 1/2 a bar of boost. Then again once its run in he is going to rum a bar plus...
