Fuel tank question
« on: 18:47, Thu 28 March 2013 »
Hi, had a fuel leak dripping from the tank. Dropped it out to find that someone had used silicon sealant to block off a 2" tube.
I couldn't see how to post pics here, so have 2 Dropbox links.
Pic1, the one that was sealed is the bottom right pipe. Looks yellow.

When fitted in the car the sealed pipe sits drivers side, right up against the chassis.

The reserve tank etc was all piped up. Can't work out what's going on.
Thanks

That's a common problem, leak is more noticeable when there is around half a tank of fuel or more.

The bung is supposed to be there, I think the tank was used on another Renault which used that hole as some sort of return maybe? But they fitted it to the R5 with the bung in place.

You need some sealant that it resistant to solvents, easy to get it sealed up while it's off the car. There is barely any room once it's fitted.

Thank you. I'm guessing the bung is in the tank. Will go on a hunt.
