Fuel pressure problems

my gtt has the 285 cam, and carb rejetted, but when i`m in a drag race, in the 3rd and 4th gear i seem to run out of petrol and the engine starts miss-fireing... why?

p.s. this stuff hapens even when i have a half of tank of fuel.

How much boost are you running?

Maybe you need to open the needle jet up slightly to help keep the carburetor filled up. Are you using the stock fuel pump, the Phase 1 pump is what the tuners will sell you as there 'uprated' version.

Are you monitoring afr's?? what are the stat's when this occur's as Ash says could be fuel starvation and a larger need jet required but then are you running a higher pressure fuel pump?  You could always stick with the std needle jet and fit a 2 ltr surge tank and run a high pressure pump after this so you would use the std gtt pump to fill the surge tank and then after surge tank the high pressure tank.  This setup has has had good result's.
