break down :(
« on: 21:26, Tue 16 October 2012 »
Hi guys.   my 5gt has a problem.  i think its fuel pump relay but il ask for your opinions.   few weeks ago my car decided to cut out and wouldnt start again.  just kept turning over but wouldnt catch. i took the earth off the battery and replaced and it started fine.  250 miles later (today) im driving normaly at 30 and it cuts out.  i took earth off and on and no change.   when it was turning over i could not hear fuel pump.   i took all fuses out and replaced them all seemd ok there. i tapped all the relays.  tried it again and could hear fuel pump and it started fine.   any ideas as its my daily driver while im rebuilding my bike

It all depends how the turbo timer is wired in, i would say deiconnect it and give it a try. If it still does it remove the fuel pump relay and bridge the plug and test it, if it doesn't cut out then you know its that

Fuel pump relay is located behind the passenger fuse box it's black about 2"s long by 1" wide says Cartier on it.  To bridge connect the yellow and white wires together for an ignition live or a perm live feed red and white.

The distributor is just there to to distribute the spark, there are no electronic gubbins underneath the cap.

The spark is dealt with electronically via the AEI unit.
