Two Hyundai versions recalled for airbag issues
« on: 07:42, Thu 02 August 2012 »
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration publicized Saturday that the Korean car maker Hyundai will be recalling over 220,000 of its Santa Fe and Sonata models. The recalls are over two entirely different issues with the safety bags. Have you been looking to sell or purchase a used or new auto? If this seems like you, take a look at Gus Johnson Ford Spokane WA!

Recalling the Santa Fe

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 199,118 Santa Fe SUVs from the model years 2007 through 2009 are being recalled since the occupant classification system might be defective. That might lead to improper air bag deployment in a crash, upping the chance of injuries or worse.

The occupant classification system determines whether the seat is being occupied by an adult, a child, a child's seat or some other object. It then deploys the bag accordingly. If a kid is in the seat at the time of a crash, and the bag deploys mistakenly for an adult, it could cause greater harm to the kid. Likewise, an adult might be inadequately protected in a crash should the bag employ for a kid.

There have been a ton of reports of no airbag being deployed with adults weighing less than 130 pound, according to Hyundai, which means that is another choice. There have been no injuries reported with the problem.

All affected automobiles will get a software update to correct the issue, according to the car maker, and that will start in August. All Santa Fe SUVs produced between April 19, 2006 and July 7, 2008 is affected.

All about Sonata

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explained that the side curtain safety bags in the Sonata sedan can deploy before getting in a crash because of a manufacturing defect. You can end up seriously injured and the airbag could make it impossible to keep driving if deployed. For this reason, the 2012 to 2013 Hyundai Sonatas are being recalled. There will be 22,512 automobiles affected.

Owners complained 16 distinct times about the problem, though there were injuries reported in those grievances.

Starting in August, new side curtain safety bags will be put in the Sonatas for free. All Sonatas built between Jan 24, 2012 and June 21, 2012 is impacted in the recall.
