Specialist in Hampshire?
« on: 13:39, Wed 28 March 2012 »
Hi Guys,
Just bought my 5gtt last month.
My clutch went the other day and the local mechanic I spoke to said he coudn't do it as the last one he did took 12 hours and the engine had to come out, he just hasn't got the time at the moment.
He reckons I should take it to a Renault specialist but I dont know any local ones. obviously it would need to be towed/trailered there.
Im in Fleet, Hampshire. There's Renaultspeed in Northcamp but I've not heard anything about them to know what they're like.
Any Suggestions?

He's correct in saying the engine needs to come out.

Put up a wanted ad, forum members wanted in exchange for BBQ and beers (assuming the nice weather stays)

Engine does need to come out but you can leave the box in.
Have you got a hoist ? If not a couple of you can lift it out if you're feeling strong.
It's remembering where all the hoses etc. go if you've not done one before that takes time.
If all goes well & you can get everything undone I reckon it can be done in 4 hrs..... if you don't hit stubborn nuts & bolts ...
I'd have help out but I just don't have the time anymore :(
Not sure if Tony (fish head) can help, he's not far from you IIRC ??

we did it yesterday for first time, took about 5 hours to drop it on subframe, would have been quicker if we didnt have to grind the drivers side subframe bolts out..
