Suspension Options
« on: 17:10, Mon 13 February 2012 »
The Gaz coilovers and rear shocks on my 5 are shot to bits and I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to a new Gaz kit. I may get them rebuilt but was wondering if anyone has used the Apex Sport kit with 35mm lowering springs?

I want something that will not roll too much when I'm cutting up Audi's on the motorways, but is not like a bone shaker on the Surrey back roads. I may get some Gaz rears as they have adjustment and use the Apex up front...

Hi Jeff how's it going mate.

I had Spax suspension on my Punto GT and tbh found them to be pretty bad... terrible body roll and bumpy, the complete opposite to the R5 lol. I'm not sure if it was the PSX kit or not though, I think mine may have been the VSX which are slightly cheaper.

The coilovers on my Impreza were bloody brilliant, Tein's (Super Street I think they were called) though they did cost nearly a grand!

I can't comment on the PSX kit but I had the RSX and they were very nice, rears needed spacers as for some reason they would sit closer to the body of the car over the standards and this was a phase 2 kit aswell.

I also snapped a spax rear damper aswell    car was pretty low

nasty snap there! Spax are off the list then...

Can't decide between going for the APEX as the cheap option just to drive around on or go all out and buy a new set of GAZ coilovers :?

need new strut mounts rubbers tops hats too so its a fair old lump of cash...
