Arches fitting
« on: 21:08, Wed 08 February 2012 »
Can i just bond them on with tigerseal or somthing.
Ive never had any of it off but its all coming off for some fresh paint.
I know there clips on the skirts, but i dont like that.
Is there enough surface to bond?

If your carefull with the arches you should be able to unscrew them. Sometimes the fibreglass can splinter though if your a bit heavy handed.

Sideskirts could be tricky, there bolted/riveted along the bottom edge but i'm not sure if theres a large enough surface area along the top for an adhesive to get a good 'grab'. And if they dont sit nice and flush along the door shut,  the door could catch the rubber seal and keep pulling it out.

Are the clips broken on the skirts? You can get repair kits if they are.

They're some kind of fibre glass resin covered stuff. I think that's why they break so easily :(

Does it have the little stud bits along the tops of the sill? There should be some little hooked wing things that fit over them, the the clips of the skirt push in between them and the sill.

(I'm so good at describing things sometimes   )
