Did anything happen when you drove it, did you drive hard or easy?

it's running 17psi but i kept it more or less off boost didnt go past 4000 revs to be fair. didn't think i was driving particulerly hard. it;s ruined my day though.lol i'm assuming it's done a piston but i just wondered if anyone has any other ideas before i take the head off.

It does sound like a piston at fault, to be honest i would pull head off anyway and have alooks you soon see whats gone.

Just read your spec, i see you have large venturi carb. I'd be thinking of getting rid of that

Yeah I'm gonna nip the carb off tomorrow I think. What's up with the large venturi? A couple of people have said to remove it but havent really said why, would it not help to prevent it leaning off?

Enlarging the venturi your reducing the venturi action, i:e is not sucking as hard as standard so way roud this was to fit a larger main jet but this in itself cause other issues, overfueling off boost is very common one.To be honest in my opinion running a poorly jetted large venturi carb cause more problems them not, i've run some very quick times (12.3 being quickest) on a standard venturi and main jet without it leaning out top end.

That is a seriously quick time. So Id be better to go back towards a standard carb then? I'll have a look on cgb see if they have a standard Venturi. It did pop a little on slow down and downshift. I think I'm probably going to be quite busy with them lol. Do you do set ups and fueling where you work?

I would recommend standard venturi all the time, haven't used a large venturi in very long time

All you need is a new carb body, you could swap all your other bits over to it but it will need setting up correctly for the boost you want

Yeah i do all work on 5's mate, its a weekend thing i do so not main job.

Where abouts are you based? It's the raider I got off Dean so when I've done he work I could always nip it down to you with the wastegate penny open running no boost

I'm based in Aylesbury, Dean popped down today to collect his engine so could ask him how far it is if you live near him.

If you take it easy then shouldn't be any reason to take actuator arm off.
