turbo

i posted on here on monday about white smoke. some people said it was condensation in the exhaust but it has got worse so i whipped the exhaust wlbow off and its got quite a lot of oil in it so i'm guessing that the seals are buggered.   any other ideas that i could be missing?

Sounds like turbo has gone to me, time for rebuild.  Has the shaft got any play in it?

no none whatsoever. dean had it rebuilt and the rear seal went straight away so i bought one of those with the extra bit and a heat shield but now it's smoking worse than ever and got oil in the exhaust.  :?

When you rebuikd a turbo you normally have to change little more then just the seals, when turbos go there tends to be more wrong with them.
It'll need properly rebuilding mate, shaft checked and ground if needs be, new bearings and seals plus checking its all balanced too as this will kill a turbo quickly too

i#m starting to realise the biggest pain is it's in for it's mot re-test on monday and they will never pass it smoking like it is. :?

Yeah its abit hard to pass as they do check for smoke out exhaust, is anyone near you who can lend you tubo to get you through MOT?

no not really  :lol: i'm just gonna strip ity down again clean it all out tow the car to them and hope it doesn't smoke too much. it only needs the back brakes testing this time maybe i'll get lucky

Really? Depends on what it failed on.

It should only need testing on what it failed on, that's how it's always worked for me in the past.

only a partial as it's being returned within the 10 working days so they just check what it failed on

at work (im a tech) if the vehicle leave's the test station then we have to perform a full test regardless of milage because you dot know what the car has been doing since it left minor incident etc

cars now got  12 month ticket on it            now the hunt is on for a new turbo  :cry:  :cry:  :cry:  :cry:
