How to tell if a piper cam
« on: 15:57, Wed 07 September 2011 »
Ive just got hold of 2 cams. Both have 270 stamped on them and in the box of bits i got it had a piper leaflet.

Any way i can find out if there the proper stuff.

Also would one of them fit a campus and add any power?
Cheers
Mark

What's stamped on the end's?

If the 270 is say down the shaft itself OE cam's have that stamped on, but look at the en of the cam on the smooth end it should have stamp marks on

Look like standard cam markings to me if the were Piper or similar they would have stamped BP285 or similar stamped on the end's

The only way to know for definate if the cam's are 285 or similar is to measure the lobes, I know my old MSM cam didn't have anything stamped on the end at all but was a 285
