Well after a good day out at WRS at Silverstone im now home in a not to good mood.

Had to show a corsa VXR that the "old boys" still have the edge which I did with ease. Did about another 30 mile at a steady speed till the oil pressure gauge dropped, smoke through the vents and a clatter from the front!!

Think the big end bearings or something bottom end has pooped its pants!

Do I fix it or push it into the nearest quarry!!!

Posibly done a piston too, think only way going to find out is pul it apart. What you need to do is see what caused it go to too and sort that out too.

I think im destined to live in the garage lol, possibly 130 then backing off? It had started to knock a little when cold.

I managed to nurse it home, it still had 2 bar of pressure

Hey dude i was checking out your motor down silverstone today,
and speaking to the  guy who had the mint black one


i left my 5 at home (clutch gave up last night when i left) boo


unlucky about the engine time for a rebuild

Took the engine out today and stripped the bottom end. Looks like contamination in the oil and scored bearings.








There seems to be scoring on the crank too


And some to the liner







There a few of one liner before someone ask if I have a six cylinder lol

Does anyone have a can of "Miracle engine rebuild"  :lol:

I see a very knackered piston in there!

Thats your problem, it leaned out and the piston has niped up on the liner. Time for another piston/liner

Yeah, as Mark said, I did exactly the same on my old C1J, if you take that piston out I bet it looks a bit of a mess near the top  :cry:  It's got to hot & stuck to the liner wall, then it prob dumped the oil out somewhere, I had a catch tank, this overflowed & I lost all the oil, which also knackered my bottom end....

Crikey Dean 130mph :lol:  I would be scared to go past 100mph in a GTT they get so light and rattle.  Did you keep and eye open on the afr's?

SteveL - Took the pistons out, one looks like its been out in the sun too long lol



No too much damage to the head and only a little to the other piston.



I think from now on ill stick below 100(KM)  :wink: or get a talking AFR gauge  :oops:







Dropped the engine of at Marks last night, hopefully should be done by dinner today  :lol:
At least its an excuse to repaint the engine bay and do the front bumper. Also need a clutch release bearing.
