I have a renault clio on a 1997 plate. It has a 1987 renault 5 Gt turbo engine in it. With regards to the engine emissions what.are they.carried out on? The age.of the car or age.of the engine?? Under section 7.3 of the mot guidelines if the car is fitted with a different engine the mot is to be done on whatever.is oldest.the engine or the car is this true??
Cheers n e help be grateful

If that's what it says in the MOT guidelines then it must be correct. But how do you persuade the MOT tester that it's an engine that is older than the car?

iirc you need something like this...
a letter from renault saying
the engine code of the fitted engine and that the engine that is fitted will not beable to meet the 1997 emission regs
you just need enough proof of where the engine came from and you'll be ok
