But is the heater fan quiet?

Mine squeals like crazy! I did remove it and tryed oiling it, but no joy. Now along with the squealing i also get an odd smell.  :?

Will have to have another look at it before the colder mornings set in!

Finally sorted the boost and got back to somewhere near standard. At least I can put my foot odwn now without worrying which bit will come through the bonnet first!

Have to crack on with the dash wires now. Got a clock, but no connector for it :x Anyone know how easy (or hard) it is to move the heater controlls down to the radio hole?

Got the clock fitted and working today. All the wires were there so crimped some connectors on them and soldered some wires onto the back of the clock. A reet tiny bit of my car now looks original!

Dump valve now removed, so much better IMO.

I seem to have a coolant leak or something that needs tracing. It drops to just below minimum level after a couple of journeys but never lower! THe fan kicks in sooner when I've topped it up though, so I really want to sort it out. I'll be buggered if I can find a leak though. Any ideas?

Engine leaking internally? Head gasket etc.

Heater matrix leaking all over your floor?

I had a leak that took a while to find, turned out to be the small coolant pipe for the inlet manifold, it was dripping straight onto the exhaust manifold and evaporating so there were no signs.

Mine has the plastic sheilding missing from around the scuttle area, it's probably filled with water over the years and messed it up.

Head gasket is new so hopefully not that! I will have to leave it running and keep an eye out for a leak, as it must be a small one somewhere. I suspect the hose from the water pump to the degassing pot, the one with the bleed screw in, but can never catch it doing it!

Bigman, the color is Renault electric blue. I believe it was only avaialble on D/E plate cars. Phase 1 and 1.5 were available in it. I have never seen it in a car newer than 88, E. I supose that makes Subarus Renault blue then

That sounds exactly the same as mine.

Fan should cut in on the 3rd line, depending on what rating fan switch you have installed it might be lower.

Found 2 leaks today. One from the water pump, looks like one of the bolts that hold it together is leaking. The other was rom the carb base to inlet manifold pipe. I saw a drip on the perk sensor and when I had a feel it started pissing out like a jet wash! New pipe on order.

Old Blue has been ignored a bit of late. ok, so I ain't had a good run in her since before xmas! To my great surprise every time I went out to start her she has obliged after a bit of cranking.  MOT is now expired and I was going to leave it until the weather is a bit better, just incase anything needs doing, but I gave in to her charms and she's going in on Monday. Wish us luck!

Good luck!

Mine was off the road over the winter. I gave her a service and sorted a few little niggles while she was off the road.

I got her back on the road the weekend just gone, it's good to be back!
