Bit of a silly one this but do the wings need to be welded to the seal

Do you mean the sill? I think theres a bolt or rivet at the bottom?

I've just removed mine and they were bolted although I think these were replacements for the original rivets.

Good to see that you are still working on the car and didn't sell it. Is the gearbox back together ??
