« on: 23:05, Fri 04 November 2011 »
where can i find the engine cooling fan motor relay?

another question: i don't have electric windows but in the centre console there are plastic trims/caps in stead of buttons. however there are wires underneath these plastic caps. is the car pre-wired ? :)

thanks!  :)

Thanks! :D

My left driveshaft has a big hole in the plastic gaiter and it's completely dry. It's also making sounds. Do you think I should change hubs too? I am planning to change both drive trains when I'll do it.

I've seen many GTT specialists selling longer drive trains than the standard ones. Whats up with that? :)

they hided rust  unfortunately :(

Borrowed some tempoary plates and gave her the first stemwash in 10 years

Left her for some bodywork and paint this week, rear body panel will be fixed and spot painted. Rust etc. under the arches. will be fixed by me when I get her back

Renault 5 GT Turbo / 5 GTT drive shafts, will fit a 1,7l GTE?
« on: 17:42, Thu 03 November 2011 »
Hi everyone

I just wonder if the drivetrain on a GTT will fit a GTE? GT Turbo spares told me that the 5GTT has a different transmission, driveshaft etc. than the campus. And I wonder if anyone know if it is different than the GTE? which has the same exterior/interior trim. My local deler has alot of different shafts and no experience in these cars, I will buy new from UK if the 5GTT fits.

My problem is which transmission do I have? And how can I get the answer?  :)
My engine is 1,7 fuel injected and 5 gear manual

Technical specs from local dealership for GTE-driveshaft (left side) two different types:

Will both fit maybe?
transmission type JB0/1/3, manual transmission;
left front end , splints wheelside 21, Length 598 mm

transmission type JB4/5,
manual transmission;
left front end , splints wheelside 21, Length 611 mm

Really good work on that paint mate!

Good inspiration as I'm going to respray front bumper + bonnet myself.

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Re: How to remove sideskirts
« on: 22:31, Sat 22 October 2011 »
Thanks mate. What kind of bolts is it and how do I remove them? I have previously looked at the Edge of the sills and they are flat without iex. flat or Philips head.

Btw Nice red GTT :)

Renault 5 GT Turbo / How to remove sideskirts
« on: 20:52, Sat 22 October 2011 »
I Wonder how to remove the sideskirts and front/rear arches. I've successfully removed both bumpers without problems. The sideskirts looks like they've been bolted on without making it possible to remove without breaking then bolts
and clips.

Help :)

Really good work mate.

How much did the paint cost you? And how many litres did you use?
And was it waterbased paint?

My local shop wants 300 pounds in material :-/

I'm thinkig of painting a new ph2 frontbumper + bonnet.

Yeah, definately many coats. But I'll be using a paintbrush and not spray.

DeanGT5 where did you get those stickers?

Been doing alot of things the last days! I've had the week off and the R5 has gone trough a a lot.
I have placed a big order at CBG this week, really good service, discount was given, no question asked. thumbs up!

engine bay before

engine bay after washing, sanding it down, primed and painted.outcome was better than i expected, more picture will come (didnt mind masking the windscreen, will be changed in near future)

removed the damaged front bumper and found some paint-rust

removed the rust with a dremel with rechargable battery (amazing tool)

added a product called "rustbjørn" which attacks the rust on steel.

more rust

primed the front bar

added thick rust protection with paintbrush

removed old thermostad

cleaned and sanded thermostat housing

new thermostat in housing, was later on installed on engine block.

next plans/next week:
install low temperature radiator fan switch (fan does not work nowadays)
change spark plugs

To be continued!
