Cool I just have to get some original seats now, I have some subframe adaptor plates in the attic,
just no front seats :(

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Re: spark plugs

personally I would't use multi point spark plugs like the super 4's or Bosch supers for a turbo charged car but that's just me, In the past they have caused poor idle and a miss on full boost,
probably caused by spark scatter,
I tend to use a good quality NGK platinum plug .6 or .8 gap,
depending on what car and what boost,
I would try the ones recommended above as they have been tried and tested :)

it looks ok bud, the only prob is if there is a problem with quality sfs would replace it,
it's a fair bit cheaper though :)

Hi and Welcome,
my take on the R5's it seems to be Cooling, fuel and more cooling :)
plugs only last 3000 miles, they need plenty of tlc but they are great little cars and rewarding :)

Hi, to all of you who share the same love as i do...R5 GT TURBO.
My name is Harry, a 37 year dutch chap.
Since a couple of years i am the proud owner of my phase 1(1985) GTT wich i also call my third child.
Completely restaured, cleaned the locks and painted it in Renault Orage blue
from the inside aswell as the outside the car is a true beauty no cracks, dents holes or what so ever.
Under the bonnet i spoiled myself with a T25 turbo, a 2.5 inchstainless onepiece elbow-downpipe (bigjim racing), SFS hoses, aluminium radiator and group A carb.
Driving @ 14 psi (1 bar) and even i could get more boost it goes like hell.
Reason i hooked up with the U.K. R5 guys i because here in Holland there's a small group of R5 lovers but they are not my kind of guys...
Anyway, The UK is THE place to be if your an R5 boost junkie are cause, it's so cheap over there.
Added some pics of my pride and joy!

Welcome to the club :)

He still needs to change the plugs too,

were thinking fuel pump, the feed pipe had a kink in it and the pumps still makes little noise on boost but a lot when idling so that's being changed next. thanks for the help :)

looks like it coming together :)

very noisy on idle, raises pitch then drops, he says he's thinks it's uprated, which it may well be but when up and running I couldn't hear it? maybe the pitch changes either means possibly it's losing voltage, bad earth or running out of from from the tank to the pump? maybe the sock is partailly blocked? it's going to have to be a methodical change and see I think?
Unless the R5 fuel pumps are like that,
I have a walbro 255 on the skyline but it stays constant pretty much with the earth modification.

the turbo looks to have a fresh non oe tag plate so i would have said it's uprated or re-built,

well it dets and then gets bad hesitation and judder after another 500 revs at full throttle, I don't want him to keep testing that out though or it will be new pistons or head gasket or both,
We'll try the other unit, new plugs, leads, better fuel and check the dizzy out too,
