cap on the left is what i have on mine, got it from gsf
the cap should of come with a matched rotor arm in the box

i cant remember 100% fella, but you need to either contact renault themselfs, or maybe even email dvla with everything explaining and asking what to do for a mot

iirc you need something like this...
a letter from renault saying
the engine code of the fitted engine and that the engine that is fitted will not beable to meet the 1997 emission regs

you just need enough proof of where the engine came from and you'll be ok

maybe the hg has gone slightly and its pressurising the coolant system? would explain why its eating hoses but slight running okish
best way to check would be to use an mot emissions machine sniffing the header tank

what your mate has said is the most ideal way of doing it, if you have a good quality catch tank proper internals like a baffle or wire wool

but its all person preference some people like open to atmosphere and some like to pull the vapours through

either way works just as good as the other

i want to raise mine up the slightist of touchs as its a bit low and not much suspension travel

ordered
full polyrace bush kit
and braided brake lines
renault clutch cable and choke cable

next will be brembo discs and some pads not sure of make yet

then coilovers  :mrgreen:

it'll be leaking thru the rear seal fella onto the hot exhaust side causing your smoking

any good turbo specalist will be able to rebuild it. cr turbos are good for rebuilds, turbo technics only every wanna sell you one of their hybrids no matter what the car is

 also a video where you can see where i slowed to let the mini overtake me @ about 5 minutes in ( mini looked great overtaking and then the R5 overtaking the mini after it overheated @ around 8 minutes

Right been giving him some tweeking over the week while he's been garaged up after a 2 week daily use mission with no problems  :shock:

Replaced all the blowns dash button bulbs  and dial bulbs now i can see what i'm pressing
Strut brace is back on
Fiddled with the carb enrichment pump adjustment
Carried out the "cup" mod now boost is up to around 16-15psi

Then today the track prepping began for snetterton track day

Took him out today after putting in 200ml of millers extra cool (3.6% mix with renault premix coolant and a bottle of millers octane booster to stop any det that may come with the increased heat from 20 mins of abuise

Coolant temps are now alot more steady than before.
When giving it some abuise the temp moves up a little but not half as much as before but the temp comes down alot quicker than before so its doing its job well  

Adjusted the brake bias as it was majorly to the rear so i could bed the new pads and disc's in. So now its more to the front.

Changed the oil aswell still using mineral oil for now as its working fine and i want to make sure its bedded in 100% as i've only done 950 miles since i built the block, will wait till around 1500 miles before i start using semi synth

looks good

but why 3 dump valves? and why 2 intercoolers? i'd remove all the dump valves and the engine bay intercooler as they are really not needed

start with a dry test first

engine up to temp
disconnect fuel pump relay
have a fully charged battery
remove all spark plugs

insert tester into first cylinder
throttle held wide open
crank over till gauge stops going any higher and read off the pressure

repeat for rest

should be around 150psi ideally and minimum of around 120

could be 5th gear nut is coming loose or the syncro is worn alot

great thing is that it can be fixed with the gearbox still in the car

passenger wheel off,
undo wishbone support bar and push down,
drain gearbox oil,
remove gearbox end cover being carefully of the oil feed pipe and plastic oil channel guide
and then you will see all the parts of 5th gear

there's alot of pictures showing 5th gear in my members cars thread

sorry fella not had much indepth experience with these issues but i'd probably check everything like
blocked fuel filter,
pump voltage down the road staying stable,
fuel pressure rises with boost and isnt dropping off
if you could try a known good pump
maybe buy a proper 2mm needle
lower boost till issue is gone

im sure someone else will have some better info
