Glenn I can prob get you a gtt crank in good condition I know jrp has a few good ones lying about but for bearing sizes they may need measuring to see what bearings they take unless jrp left the bearings with them.

let me know. Steve said the shell had got hot and has made quite a mark on the crank, as well as leaving swarf  in the engine, going to take the 5 back up to the storage unit, and then rebuild the engine in the garage    bloody parking issues as im in town and i have three motors starting to be pain.

After running low on oil when my turbo packed up my big ends developed a very slight Knock, and after closer inspection will need more than just the shells replacing, and having the crank regrinded  :shock:  so i have taken some pics of my progress so far

Seen 3 R5 GT Turbo's Out on my travels last week i saw Phase 1 looking R5 Metalic Blue with Black Bumpers looked nice just of the A303 on the way to the New Forest.

White F reg R5 on the M25 on Monday Reg F397 YES Completely standard with some old guy driving it and it was mint.

And a red R5 on the M3 which i see most days when driving home from work.

That be true he did say he had messed with the turbo, but from what he has commented on above since I don't think he told them

Spoke to the company they will offer me a refund or new turbo,  i haven't had a look yet but it has zero oil pressure and sounds like when you start it in the morning it has a slight knock ? justed parked it up, was going to put it away in the garage and forget about it.

no i didn't tell them that i done that i only rotated slightly and moved the actuator to give me more clearence for the oil return

Was this a brand new turbo?  I would personally rotate the housing back and send it back to them.  I very much doubt they will honour any guarentee if they found out you had messed about with the turbo does sound like oil seals have gone (Although could be the engine with a fault rings, seals etc..).  Are you sure it's the turbo though and not the engine ?

Did you prime the turbo with oil for a few mins first before, you know with the king lead of and crank the engine for a while to get the oil around the turbo core.

i fitted my new turbo last sunday brought online, and it was puffing out a bit of smoke, when first started.  i didn't think much of it at the time as i thought it may have been old oil that had been sitting in the exhurst from where the old turbo shit itself and done the oil seal, any way i have done less than 50 miles on it and today going shopping in crawley, i lost all oil pressure and clouds of smoke was pooring out of the exhurst and in the car, now my engine is or sounds like its knocking, and oil was just pooring out the exhurst not even burned.

can i claim aginst the company i brought it for damages ? and if i had to spin the turbo round to get it all to line up willthey use this against me to avoid exchangingthe unit ?

T28 must be a little laggy on the 5 matey  :lol: when do you get full oost in the rpm range? and is it a standard cam?

Its ok 3000rpm and it pulls like a train, bit scary but good fun, the whole engine was set in november on a T25 running 19psi it has reprofiled cam, it cost £400 to have the carb built to fuel upto max 25psi but at the moment i changed jets so it run smoothly at 19psi it produced 189bhp on the rollers but alot of other things have been done by the last owner he used a tunning company in dorset. will have to go through the paper work and see.

Not really done anything to it a part from fit the T28 still need to fit the alloy rad, and oil cooler, and have it set up again.

yes mate it was black, sold it to someone in Newcastle. Steve done my tappets when i re built the engine.

Nice looking car aswell it was totally standard looking bar the exhaust.  You should get some pics up matey.  Your not far from me we should have a meet up and I can introduce you to a few other peeps that I regular meet up with like Dave..H, JRP, Fidos got a raider, Phil, R5T2, we all normally meet up at JRP's place in Tadworth as he has a nice big garage and we all go  and chat and mess with whom ever's 5 needs playing with which to be honest is normally JRP's as he mainly Dave..H has just fully restored .

my car is very poorly at mo needs some tweeking and that would be a good excuse to get my car looked at justy fit my T28

Did you change the oil feed pipe for the turbo?

If you did you might of just knocked the wiring from the oil pressure sender, assuming you only have the standard guage of course.

It's always best to check the wiring before you assume the worse.

I did undo the oil feed from the turbo didn't completey take it out where is the sensor i will look. And i have the standard clocks.

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Oil Seal Leaking & Fitted New Turbo Now No Oil Pressure

My t25 packed up the other week and started smoking, there was no play in the shaft but signs of oil leaking out the bottom of the turbo.  So i won a standard R5 T2 turbo on Ebay this week fitted it today and my oil pressure guage dosn't seem to work now.  So i just done oil and filter change and this hasn't mad a difference ether.

Also my R5 has been setup on the rolling road and everything has been uprated to run 19psi, but now with the standard T2 it tooks over at 1600rpm and its only boosting at 9psi as i havent changed adjusted the actuator yet.

My spec is fully rebuilt carb to run 25psi
staged two t25 turbo at the mo a t2 untill i get it repaired
fmic
rebuilt engine
alloy top hat
2.5 down pipe
ful s/s ex
full samco hoses
full rolling road setup
uprated fuel pump
uprated leads
alloy rad
oil cooler

I just brought myself another Renault 5GT after 8 years of selling my origanal phase 1 gt. Then i had a mk1 Uno Turbo and since then had many other cars, but last week i was looking at my pictures of my old cars, and decided to try and find another hot hatch at a good price, and stumbled across a R5 GT 1988 tung grey and thats the story so far.
