You up and running yet Glen :lol:

She's all ready to start but been doing the silly bits got new down pipe off steve yesterday, cant make my mind up about the turbo, as i want to get it set up on the rolling road finished and set up on a new turbo. But i could if i want start it now with the T25 on there but i dont want to have to start taking it apart agian to fit a new turbo two weeks down the line. Ive done it probley so far without cutting corners, im not going to be able to use it straight away as i need to get it M.O.Ted

Glenn, buy yourself a decent wideband kit matey like the AEM uego, Zeitronix kit, and then you can set it up yourself with some fettling to the carb jets it's not as hard as it seems lol:

Rolling road's nowadays the peeps have no idea how to setup a carb'd car only good really for the power runs to see what doing on the 5's.  They like modern cars they can plug there computer's straight into and see everything.

I would start your car with that knackered T2 matey, just to run it and then drop the oil and oput decent stuff in as you don't want to knacker a new turbo if things are wrong.

What size turbo are you looking to get??

I have wacked the t25 on there just got to sort the vacum pipes out as i cant remember how they went its all ready to run   what your movements after work today ?

Glen, good news matey can' wait to finally see another 5 on the road down this way

You'll have to come along to the RTOC meets matey when your u and running 1st wednesday of evert month and then RTOC national day this year is the 04/06/2011 @ Mallory Park

not working tonight so turbo all done except mounting the actuator so im ging to try and get it running tonight.

been out doing the 5 today only need to fit a turbo and vaccum pipes then she she be running at long last, modded oil breather set up as well.  Towoorow i will fit the t25 just to run her up and make sure everything works then fit a new turbo and flush out all fluids, and refill and M.O.T

Glen, looking good matey, as you say that Tomcat prob won't last long at the boost you will be wanting to run.

In need of a VNT i think but i will use the T25 just to get it up and running to take for M.O.T then park it back in the garage and rebuild the front end, lower arms, bushes, then do the same to the rear.  Got my entry forms for the rallys this year about time a Renault sat proud next to some old classic cars like the ford escort mk1, last one i went to last year there was mk3 escort, capri, vauxhall astra gte mk1 the only renault i saw was a 7 1/2 ton fair lorry lol but i did see a Renault 9 turbo at one of them last year, its good lough you and steve should come to one in your 5's

well finally put engine in the 5 with a little help from steve, thank you   just need to get a rocker cover gasket, coolent, oil and filter so should be up and running this weekend fingers crossed, just need to find a better turbo than the one i have got cause doubt it will last all that long.

cheers guys will need help setting it up, and im missing bumper bracket, 3 wing bolts, brake pot strap, thats it so far just need to get the lump in now

Well dispite the snow i've been in the garage working away and the 5 is coming along, i'm just having a few probs with finding some parts for the engine bay but im sure they will turn up.  Just need to get engine crane and low the lump in, but first i got to fit my L/B flywheel for the standard one and finish off the mod on the t25 want to have up and running at the weekend fingers crossed.

Its been a while but towed the 5 out of the barn where its sat since i had all the new front end put on in August. Got it back to mine with a little help from steve and work has started to put the 5 back together, all the metal work has been treated and painted with a plastic type paint to seal the bare meatal to prevent rust, then sprayed in grey primer ready for top coats but the weather has slowed me up with drying times for the paint, i got heaters on and all sorts in the garage on the go.  Here's some pics so far.

just a quick up date of what i've been up to. After finding a small amount of rust in the front panel, i decided to strip some panels to see if there was anymore but luckly its quite solid and clean underneath.  I manged to track down a front panel for £35 and a new wing for £30 which is far better then the prices Renault quoted will me ! should have them by Thursday, then fit my engine and then get all the panels fitted, and then get all the bits to finish my car off for  £1500 i was going to take it slowly but want it done for August if i can.

picked up my new engine from Romford Friday night   cheers 5teve L for finding it for me. The guy had loads of brand new parts shame he stripped his clio excellent track car.

Might have gets some parts off him at the end of the month, just need to find a new turbo, down pipe and few other bits.

Also where can i get a new sping for the carb.

Hi Glenn how's the 5 coming on matey?

Its going fine been busy the last couple of weeks, i brought caravan so not done much to the 5 but i will be picking the engine up next week, and should have it up and running by the end of the month  

Caravan :lol: bet the kids will love that matey.

Good to hear things coming on with the 5, if you need a hand one eve let me know I don't mind helping out and I am sure the same can be said for Steve.

yer the kids love it mate went to the cockoo fayre / car / bike and steam show near lewis last week to watch the tractor pulling and other halfs parents show there motor bikes, was a lough just sending entry forms off to the other shows that are coming up so i can enter the GT get in free good beer tent and fun fair and loads of trade stalls   i ran out of cash by the second day. i use to use my tent but its so big i need 9 meters square to put it up. Its sleeps 12 and has a massive living room in the middle with four tunnels leading to the bedrooms you could play lazer quest in there  :lol:

im also trying to get my old uno back i restored her some pics.

Feck me doesn't look Good I would personally just get another engine that is known to be good or rebuild one from scratch so you know what it is like when you put it together.
I have a mate with a good running complete standard engine, he also has another engine which needs a liner replaced this is just a bottom it has also been l&balanced

Found a new engine or shall i say steve did full rebuilt new liners / pistons piper 285 cam, new shells basically a fully rebuilt engine off someone on the RTOC website its in a clio but has never driven any where got it for £500 which is ok. so she will be backon the road soon.

Things not looking to good for the old 5. Steve came round yesterday to have a look at my bottom end to see what cause of action i should take next due to the state of the engine as i might have needed more than just a crank, but i let you work that out by looking at the damage in the pics.

Do you think it can be re used  :lol:









Swarf was the cause of my turbo problems with oil seals even after changing oil and filter everytime, and that swarf had travelled through all the oil jurnals in the engine, on a good note i got £4.00 from the scrap man for my block crank and cam  :lol:
