I did. Check the inlet manifold for air leaks. Other one is the carb base gaskets.

Easy check is with wd40 spray it around that area - if it picks up you have a gap ..

Sounds like it could be

a) Leak in inlet manifold.

or

b) Poorly setup carb.

I believe you can keep the five box.

You will need GTX engine mounts.

Or drill the GT ones ..

Wind it out !

If it didnt change the mixture then it sounds like either the needle has snapped , or the seal around the needle has failed.

You need to change the idle with the idle screw located on the offside of the carb.

Mine sometime fluctuates. Screw it in tight and then back out a little. That tends to cure it

This is fun.

Been speaking to brigsy - could be a multitude of things. Going to whip out the engine and check flywheel is tight ..

I think its a flywheel bolt trying to make a bid for freedom ..

Have a listen. I can make it knock or not just about on demand.

Its at no1. end.

I am not going to open up this engine till its got a replacement in the engine bay.

With the cost of repairs ( bearings etc ) its better to just bang another unit in there.

I am hoping to use a new style of VELCRO engine mount so when this one goes bang it will be less to unbolt ..
