Hi ,
 you can check 2 things : first if the fuel arrives to your carb , then if you have a spark to your sparkplugs .
This is the first step to diagnose the problem . Once you've got it ,we can help to solve the problem

18 is the mixture adjust.

16 is a fixed part and isn't adjustable by that screw.

17 is the idle speed adjust.

19 is the fast idle (choke out) speed adjust.

Hi , that's correct ; 17 seems to be at the center of the carb on the picture , in real that's not exactly this .
Your french is good .

Hi ,
replacing the plastic end tanks would be very complicated , the R5 GT rad is specific since it cools at the same time oil and coolant .
What is often made in France , if you consider hot temperatures is to mount a Clio diesel or R5 diesel rad . These one are bigger and cool better .
BUT if you do that , you will have to change the charge cooler and mount a rad to cool the engine oil .
Probably you could check if your R19 rad would fit , but I'm not sure .

Hi ,
the reference 466506-1 is the reference of turbo that was fitted on the engine of R11 Turbo from 1984 with 115 HP (so air cooled turbos ) . The Renault reference for this one are 7701351283 or 7701351281 .
There are a lot of chances that this turbo was fitted also on the GT phase 1 .

Hi ,
I thought again about this :
so on the gear lever you can take the part for the reverse gear ( the part you lift ) , the clutch cable ( but not sure , I think there are some of different length ) , probably the clutch kit .
The crankshaft but only if you have an engine of C type .
you can take the coil  and the TDC sensor on the condition the ignition is not of old generation .
You can take the thermostat , and the radiator switch but it's far better to fit some new . Probably , since you're in Australia you may have a ''hot country '' radiator ( bigger than the one we can find over here ).
The electric engines for the windscreen wiper .
The electric fan for the heating system
And the last part is the oil filler cap .
To sum up , these parts are most of the time compatible between the R11 , R9 , Express , and some Clios  .

Hi ,
depending on the engine code your friend has on his R19 (engine C or E family ) you can take the starter motor , alternator , some parts of the gearbox or the complete gearbox , the radiator , the auxiliary drive belt,probably the brake calipers ( check if the one your friend has are of girling or bendix type ) , bulbs or small parts like that . I think that's all .

Cheers for the tips however it doesnt answer my original question.....what bits can i take off the R19 that can be swapped directly with an R5..such has hubs?  starter? alternator? brake booster?
Can you see where i'm coming from?

I dont want to do a half cut conversion etc....just want to pirate parts !!

Hi all ,
I'm Philippe , 28 , and I live in France , 40 kms in the South of Lyon .
I've got a GT Turbo phase 1 of 1985 , a black one which I bought in 2004 for 750 € , a second hand . When I bought I was looking for a GT in bad condition to give it a second life . So this GT had the cranshaft and one rod damaged due to a problem of lubrification . So I looked for a crankshaft and rod to replace mine . It cost me 100 € for the crankshaft + 30 € for the rod . Of course these were used parts ( something like 700 € for the crankshaft from Renault   :shock:  WEUH !!! ) so I polished the crankshaft and made it balance to make it safe and then everything was O.K .
So then I could start to modify the engine with some nice parts ( and I'm still continuing to improve it ) HE he he he.

I've got a Renault 21 Quadra from 1991 ( 4 wheel drive , I'm not sure you call it that way ) for 1 year and I'm still working on it .
I like the way you modify the GTs in the UK so I hope I'm welcome . I'll do my best to express myself properly .
