Excellent. Thank you very much for that. There is no real substitute for a good picture in these situations.
Whats with the plenum pipes on the right hand side? They are looped to one another on this one I'm looking at as well, im assuming this is just an easy way to blank them off and they do something irrelevant on the standard car?

Cheers lads.
That pipe that seems to be a vent that I was on about attaches to the other side of this thing:
So the only pipes I need on to the carb are the fuel in, and the Acc pump one to the plenum. That other one just wants a pipe to somewhere remote and the big one at the bottom is ok being blanked off.

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Carb Pipes, Am I doing somthing wrong?

Ive searched till im blue in the face but still can't find the answer to my question.
Im paranoid that the pipes on a car im looking at are wrong.
Here is how it is...
Pipe off the back of the accelerator pump: This is currently rigged up to the plenum.
Large dia pipe towards the base of the carb: This is blanked off, I think its meant to go to the actuator but this car has a sensor pipe off the comp cover.
Small dia pipe sticking out of the big triangular boss, its a pipe without a ridge on it. This is rigged up to the AEI unit. Im not sure about this.
If anyone could confirm these or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Could be worse, saw a car hit a duck which bust the windscreen.
Where i would have kicked it out and drove on, they stayed and waited for the RAC.

Check the gearbox breather, if that is blocked then the pressure will force oil out wherever it can.

On a N/A car you can tell its the valve stem oil seals by revving it up and letting off sharpish, as you close the throttle this creates a vacuum which draws oil through the seals and you can see blue smoke from the exhaust as the engine is falling back down to idle. It should be the same on a turbo car but im not 100%

Hello,
I've never really dealt with R5's before so i suppose im here to learn!
Im not sure if its any of the guys from here but i frequently see a few R5Turbos drag racing at york (21st of this month guys!) and its great to see them hold there own with some of the newer front wheel drive cars.
Im an engineer by trade for a company called Cummins Turbo Technologies (AKA Holset). Ive got a decent knowlege of cars and mechanics but am still learning with turbo petrols!
Im here really because im currently building a bit of a buggy with an aircooled beetle engine. ive got a standard R5 turbo and im hoping to use most bits off an R5 (fuel pump, carb, pressure regulator, and possibly some of the ignition) to make it all work. not after big power (120-150 BHP) just a strong motor with a bit of poke.
Hope im welcome (lol!)
